About Us

Harleysville Veterinary HospitalHistory
Dr. David K. Lukof and his wife, Hildi, opened the doors of Harleysville Veterinary Hospital on October 19, 1983, in the first floor of the stone building at 391 Main Street, Harleysville, PA. In March 1991, we moved into a new larger facility that was built directly behind the stone building. The modern facility was designed with the idea of comprehensive medical and surgical care for animal patients. The two buildings were then adjoined for expansion of exam rooms and offices in 2003. The hospital contains a laboratory, pharmacy, x-ray, dental and surgical area. Most diagnostic and treatment procedures can be handled within our facility.

Harleysville Veterinary Hospital is currently owned and operated by Drs. Lukof, Randy Paulding and Paul Wagner. We have continually expanded our staff to meet the needs of our clients. Dr. Walter Stutz joined the hospital in 1989, Dr. Meredith Brown joined in 1993, Dr. Paul Wagner joined in 1999, Dr. Shannon Hawkins joined in 2007, Dr. Kristy Walter in 2008, Drs. Michael Reese and Jonathan Gonzalez in 2009 and Dr. Patrick Kelly in 2010. With ten veterinarians, Harleysville Veterinary Hospital is one of the largest veterinary hospitals in Montgomery County.

Accreditation
In 1992, Harleysville Veterinary Hospital first earned accreditation by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA). To achieve this distinction, the hospital voluntarily participated in a comprehensive, quality assessment of its facility, equipment, practice methods and pet health care management. Our AAHA accreditation shows our commitment to excellence, as well as the high standards that we uphold. Less than 14 percent of the small animal facilities in the United States are accredited members of this association. In order to maintain hospital member accreditation, the hospital is evaluated regularly by the association's trained consultants. Harleysville Veterinary Hospital is proud to have recently earned a three-year accreditation from the American Animal Hospital Association.

Mission Statement
The goal of Harleysville Veterinary Hospital is to provide the best possible medical and surgical attention for our patients and their owners, doing all that is possible to see that this is accomplished. The staff will work together toward promoting a friendly, organized, clean and safe hospital environment.

Our goal is to provide the finest in veterinary care to the pets that we treat and to extend kindness and consideration to their owners. Like our animal patients, clients who come through our doors are often under stress, their heightened concern for their pets may cause them extreme worry and anxiety, therefore it is important for all of our staff to behave in a caring, professional manner. Each and every person, from doctor to kennel technician, will perform their hospital duties in a conscientious, compassionate and professional manner.
